The Regional Red Deer Restorative Justice Society is hosting Rooted and Ready, an 8-session restorative practice summer program targeted towards youth who want to bring positive restorative practices and values into their school communities. Delivered over 8 two-hour-long sessions, participants will learn real skills that they can carry with them into September. Participants can expect to learn skills such as listening well, naming harm when it has occurred, supporting peers, and understanding what accountability and repair look like. Sessions will be delivered onsite through trained facilitators but with a youth-led approach, meaning you set the pace! Participants will be invited to engage with and experience each session to help lead their own learning. Regional Red Deer Restorative Justice programming is rooted in a trauma-informed and survivor-centered approach, and this program is no different. While ensuring safety and well-being throughout each session, participants will also learn about the Three Houses Restorative Crossing Model and be invited to implement it in their own lives. Each session will have a theme and learning outcome to help guide participants through the program:
Session 1: Circle and Identity
Session 2: Impact + Harm Awareness
Session 3: Identity + Resilience
Session 4: Listening + Empathy
Session 5: Voice + Expression
Session 6: Accountability + Repair
Session 7: Peer Capacity + Community
Session 8: Integration + Celebration
Rooted and Ready will run on Tuesdays from 1:00-3:00pm from July 7th to August 25th at the Central Alberta Crime Prevention Center and is open to youth 13+.
